John began his career in the New Zealand Police Force and spent 4 years gaining life skills that no other form of education could give him. John then had 3 years in the building industry before running his own retail business for 14 years, Van Helden Gallery, which had two locations, one in Days Bay and the other in Lambton Quay. The galleries were sold in 2001 and an opportunity arose to work with his brother Jamie at Advice Financial. John has a passion for people and is committed to helping clients achieve their personal and business financial goals.

John is a member of the Professional Advisers Association (PAA). The Institute's primary focus is to improve and enhance the professional status of financial planners and insurance advisers, and to advance the interests of members and their clients. Otago - Miles Flower, Director, Financial Adviser

Miles joined the team as a director of Advice Financial in April 2002. He is based at the company’s Head Office in Takapuna, Auckland. Miles has qualified for the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner CFP and Chartered Life Underwriter CLU, belonging to a select group of less than twenty advisers in NZ so qualified. He holds a Masters in Business from Auckland University, a Graduate Diploma in Business specializing in Personal Financial Planning from Massey University, a Diploma of Life Assurance from The Insurance Institute of New Zealand, a Certificate in Financial Planning from the Insurance Institute of Great Britain. Miles believes that professional financial planning requires a long term view and his commitment is to provide clients with ongoing advice and assistance as their lives and financial positions change, allowing them to understand and best meet their needs for financial security every step of the way.
